Messy. Made in God’s image. Corrupt. Christ’s body. Divided. Diverse. Faulty. Faithful.

Do you want to deepen your understanding of the Old Testament? All these terms could describe God’s church over the past two millennia. In our class, Finding Jesus in Church History, we will explore the paradoxes of the church’s life in hopes of discovering how past men and women of the faith displayed God’s image, embodied Christ, spread the Good News, and remained faithful while facing the challenges of their times.

Despite personal flaws, church upheaval, and persecution, as Jesus said: “the gates of Hades” could not prevail against the church. Join us in exploring the ways the church has endured, how its people have represented Jesus, and how we can continue His Story.

We have published a companion book, His Story: Finding Jesus in Church History, that ventures through church history not as a textbook, but as a devotional series. Designed as 56 daily meditations, His Story provides Scripture, stories of men and women of the faith throughout history, reflection questions, and a prayer for each entry. Readers will find themselves journeying through eight “Ages” of church history, as they reflect on the Apostles, the Early Church Fathers, the Catholics, the Orthodox, the Reformers, and more.
